António Lobo Xavier, partner and coordinator of the firm’s tax team, participates in the conference “Competitive Portugal – The Role of the Free Trade Zone of Madeira". Organised by S.D.M – Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Madeira in conjunction with the newspaper Jornal de Negócios, the conference takes place at the Pestana Palace Hotel in Lisbon on June 5, 2012.
The purpose of the conference is to debate and analyse objectively topics involving the development of the Free Trade Zone of Madeira. Attendees of the conference stand to gain a rigorous perception of what was, what might have been and what can still be the role of the Free Trade Zone of Madeira in a country like Portugal in which circumstances demand that it be more modern and competitive, which are the indispensable conditions for its growth.
Partner António Lobo Xavier will contribute to the discussion by presenting the theme “Tax strategy and the Portuguese economic adjustment program”.
