Project with the support of Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva distinguished by an award from the Thomson Reuters Foundation

The pro bono  project “Creating Jobs in Europe” developed by ADIE - Association pour le Droit à l’Initiative Économique and by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in collaboration with Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva, Latham & Watkins, Orrik and 16 other law firms was distinguished by the "Trust Law Impact Award" from the  Thomson Reuters Foundation  last December, 2011.

The project consisted of the elaboration of a report about the national judicial regimes in the Member States of the European Union  regarding micro-credit with the objective of showing that the existing tools are not sufficient and should be improved, increasing awareness in the European Commission of the need  to develop European judicial initiatives. The report is available online at http://www.trust.org/documents/creating-jobs-in-europe.pdf.

Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva’s contribution (the firm was invited by  Latham & Watkins to participate) consisted in the preparation of Portugal’s chapter in the first trimester of 2011 and counted on the participation of a multidisciplinary team composed by Joana Soares de Almeida, Cláudia Castanheira dos Santos, Pedro de Gouveia e Melo, Andreia Gabriel Pereira, Rita Ferreira Lopes and Fábio de Jesus Loureiro.

During the course of its participation, Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva was elected member of Trust Law Connect, a worldwide network of 200 law firms and in-house teams, managed by the Thomson Reuters Foundation to simplify the access process to pro bono judicial services by non-governmental organizations and other entities that need those services.
