Cátia Henriques Fernandes joined the firm in 2001. She is a member of the tax team. Cátia works with the firm's Madeira office and for the management company MLGT Madeira – Management & Investment, S.A..
Her area of expertise includes the incorporation and management of companies licensed to operate in the IBC of Madeira, as well as legal assistance to several local international corporations mainly in the shipping area.
Particularly, she has been assisting international Ship-owners and Banks on the registration of facts relating to vessels registered with the International Shipping Registry of Madeira, from ownership to maritime liens and encumbrances, drafting of maritime contracts, assistance on issues relating to crew, maritime incidents, etc.
Cátia Henriques Fernandes often participates in seminars and conferences on maritime law and has also been involved in several projects and initiatives on maritime related issues in Portugal.
Apart from her work in the IBC, Ms. Henriques Fernandes advises some of the most important tourism groups in Madeira and Portugal and other entities on matters related to Portuguese domestic law.
