Fábio Castro Russo

Fábio Castro Russo joined the firm in 2007 and became a partner in 2023. He is a member of the corporate and M&A team.

His practice focuses on corporate law and he has significant experience in advising national and international clients on mergers and acquisitions and other corporate restructuration matters, commercial contracts, including joint ventures and general corporate law and corporate governance matters. At Morais Leitão, he has been involved in a vast number of transactions in various sectors of activity, namely engineering and construction, manufacturing, construction materials, beverages and real estate.

He often works on cross-border matters, especially in the Iberian and Lusophone contexts, on numerous occasions having participated in transactions with an international dimension, involving legal teams from multiple jurisdictions.

Alongside his work as a lawyer, Fábio has a strong academic background, being a guest lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto) since 2009, teaching Private Law. He was member of a relevant number of academic juries (master's theses), having further supervised the preparation of master's theses.

He is frequently invited to teach parts of postgraduate courses, namely in respect of representations and warranties, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and regularly publishes scientific articles in his areas of interest, being one of the team members of the Portuguese Catholic University’s Commentary to the Civil Code. He has been quoted in rulings by the Portuguese Supreme Court and Supreme Administrative Court.

Law Degree (Católica Porto School of Law, 2007), having been granted the Professor Francisco Carvalho Guerra award. Master's Degree in Corporate and Business Law. Master's Degree in Company and Business Law (Católica Porto School of Law, 2009).
