Tiago Coelho Magalhães
Principal Associate
Tiago Coelho Magalhães joined Morais Leitão in 2016. He’s a member of the firm’s criminal, regulatory offences and compliance team.
Previously, during his traineeship, Tiago was also a member of the firm’s european and competition law team.
His practice focuses mainly on the area of criminal litigation, including regulatory offences, and particularly on economic and financial crimes, environmental crimes, crimes against people and also regulatory offences procedures related to competition law, banking and capital markets law and also civil aviation offences.
At the same time, he has advised corporate clients conducting internal investigations and on matters related to compliance, including anti-money laundering law and whistleblowing.
He is the author of several articles on criminal law and criminal procedure, as well as on compliance. He frequently participates in conferences, colloquia and courses as a guest speaker on matters of criminal law and criminal procedure, regulatory offences and compliance, specially white-collar crimes, corporate criminal liability, managers’ criminal liability and whistleblowing.
Currently, he is a member of the Disciplinary Board – Non-Professional Section of the Portuguese Football Federation, for the 2020-2024 term.
Education
Law Degree (Coimbra Faculty of Law, 2014). Master’s Degree in Criminal Law (Coimbra Faculty of Law, 2016). Attending Postgraduated Studies in Corporate Law (Coimbra Faculty of Law, IDET, 2016). Specialised Studies in Compliance and Criminal Law (Coimbra Faculty of Law, IDPEE, 2015).
