Joana Galvão Teles joined the firm in 2005. She is a member of the
Litigation and Arbitration Team. She is also a member of the Insurance Law Team and Africa Team in litigation and arbitration.
Joana focuses her practice on complex resolution disputes, acting as counsel in domestic and international arbitrations, mainly concerning
corporate and contractual disputes, in different
industry sectors especially, in the
construction and in the
energy sectors, involving the application of different laws and rules of procedure, including ICC rules, in different seats including Lisbon, Maputo and Luanda. Regarding arbitration, she gives advice on negotiation and the inclusion of arbitration clauses in contracts, as well as on investment protection. She also acts as counsel in complex judicial litigation in different industry sectors, such as banking, commercial, corporate, construction, energy, and
insurance, among others.
She participates as lecturer in several courses at Nova School of Law and at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), as well as in conferences and seminars in the field of arbitration.
She is a member of the Board of the Commercial Arbitration Centre of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Future CAC Commission of the said Centre. She is a member of the Deontology Council of the Portuguese Arbitration Association and is also a member of the Management Committee of the Concordia Arbitration Centre.
