Rui de Oliveira Neves

Rui de Oliveira Neves joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2009. He  is a member of the corporate and commercial and capital markets team. He is one of the firm’s most respected and experienced lawyers in the corporate and securities area, as well as in the energy sector.

In the corporate and securities area he has had a significant role in the counseling of the latest 3 stages of the reprivatisation of the largest Portuguese utility company, the first stage of the reprivatisation of the national TSO, the IPO of the fourth largest worldwide renewables company, several tender offers, IPOs and reprivatisation operations.

On the other hand, he is also one of the most active lawyers in the energy law area. The main highlights include his participation in the reorganisation and liberalisation process of the national energy sector initiated in 2003/2004, which involved the drafting/revision of several energy sector legislation, the early termination of the Power Purchase Agreements, the negotiation of concession agreements for the use of the public hydro domain for the hydroelectric generation and the integration of the natural gas regulated assets in the concessionaire of the National Electricity Transmission Network.

Combining knowledge acquired in both main practice areas he recently coordinated the assignment of the 2006/2007 tariff deficit and the securitisation of the 2008/2009 tariff adjustments.
