Maria Soares do Lago, Diana Ribeiro Duarte and Mariana Soares David win European Awards

Morais Leitão has won four trophies at the Women in Business Law Awards 2021 Europe, which were presented in an online ceremony on June 24th.
In the virtual ceremony, the Euromoney group distinguished Morais Leitão as Portugal Firm of the Year.

Maria Soares do Lago, Mariana Soares David and Diana Ribeiro Duarte won the European awards of Debt Capital Markets Lawyer of the Year, Product Liability Lawyer of the Year and Corporate Rising Star, respectively.

The Women in Business Law Awards Research Team said of Morais Leitão’s win:

“Morais Leitão has been focused on developing initiatives that see women in law advance through mentoring and leadership, building a family-responsible firm. They have been attracting and developing female talent at every level within the firm. This is best expressed in the leading talent that Morais Leitão has seen recognised for work in capital markets, product liability, and general corporate legal work”.

Women in Business Law Awards research lead John Harrison said: “We are delighted to be able to present the winners of the 11th annual Women in Business Law Awards Europe. It is unfortunate that we must host the awards virtually again, however it is important to note that we have remained committed to learning about and highlighting the progressive initiatives of firms and the leading women practitioners from across the region.

We have seen a great deal of progressive leadership by both firms and practitioners this year – which is all the more impressive with having to adapt to new ways of working and advocating for diversity throughout the pandemic. We truly believe it is of the utmost importance to highlight these achievements. We are hopeful that we will be able to celebrate with the nominees and winners in person next year.”

For Morais Leitão this is a moment to celebrate the talent of its female lawyers. Fulfilling its mission and values, the firm has developed very concrete programmes of inclusion and individual respect, whose success is thus demonstrated.
