António Pinto Leite is the new president of the Portuguese Industry and Commerce Chamber’s Arbitration Center

António Pinto Leite, partner of Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados [Morais Leitão], is the new president of the Portuguese Industry and Commerce Chamber’s Arbitration Center – the leading arbitration center in Portugal.

António Pinto Leite will take office this week, succeeding Professor António Menezes Cordeiro.

The center’s new team will be renewed in more than 50% of its membership, consciously pursuing gender equality.
Paula Costa e Silva, from the Law College of the Lisbon University, and Nuno Sousa, from Linklaters, will be vice-presidents of António Pinto Leite’s team. Paulo Mota Pinto (FDUC), Pedro Maia (FDUC), Maria de Lurdes Pereira (FDUL), Tito Arantes Fontes (Uria), Filipa Cansado de Carvalho (PLMJ), Carla Borges (VdA), Rui Medeiros (Sérvulo) and Rita Gouveia (CMS-Arnaut) will be the other members.

For António Pinto Leite, “it is with great responsibility, enthusiasm and spirit of enterprise” that he looks at his appointment. “The balance between experience and renovation – and most of all, an awareness to the new challenges of our area” are the key-words that the Morais Leitão lawyer plans to base his CAC-CCIP presidency on.

António Pinto Leite is a co-founder of Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados and he currently coordinates the arbitration department and leads the firm’s international arbitration team. He presided the Portuguese Arbitration Association, the Portuguese Arbitration Commission of the International Trade Chamber and was a member of the International Arbitration Court of the International Trade Chamber as well.
