Catarina Monteiro Pires is the new Portuguese member of the European Law Institute

Catarina Monteiro Pires, senior associate of Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva, is the new Portuguese member of the European Law Institute.

The European Law Institute, founded in June, 2011, as an entirely independent organisation, aims to improve the quality of European law, understood in the broadest sense. It seeks to initiate, conduct and facilitate research, to make recommendations, and to provide practical guidance in the field of European legal development.

Catarina Monteiro Pires has previous experience in international acquisitions, corporate reforms and banking law over the past three years. She has been focusing her activity on the areas of acquisitions, strategic partnerships and projects within the gas and electricity markets. She is also very active in all matters related with drafting and negotiating gas sale and transportation agreements and agreements related with the implementation of energy production projects (wind farms, biomass and, especially hydropower generation and combined cycle production). Ms. Monteiro Pires also provides ongoing legal advice in the area of energy regulation.
