João Tiago Silveira

João Tiago da Silveira rejoined the firm in 2011. He is the coordinator of the administrative and public procurement team and Specialist Lawyer in administrative law.

He is a Professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon in Public Law and Administrative Law. He regularly participates as speaker in postgraduates and conferences in Administrative Law, Environment, Urban and Planning, Administrative Licensing and Better Regulation.

João Tiago da Silveira is also a member of the board of the Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas and member of the International Association of Legislation. He also integrates the lists of arbitrators of Arbitration Courts on Administrative and Labor Law.

He has played an active role in public positions, namely as State Secretary of Justice, State Secretary of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Director of the Legislative Policy and Planning Office of the Ministry of Justice. During his role he conceived and executed policies on cutting red tape and simplification of registries and notaries, new technologies in courts, better regulation, urban rehabilitation and the reform of administrative litigation.

He was also member of the High Council for the Public Prosecutors, member of the Technique Commission for the Preparation of the Program for the Quality and Efficiency of Legislation enacted by the Government, Coordinator of the Work Group for the Administrative Justice Reform, member of the High Council for Statistics, member of the commission entitled to prepare Portuguese Legislation on the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and member of the Commission to prepare Legislation on the transference of competences to the Municipalities.
