Mara Rupia Lopes

Principal Associate

Mara began her career as a trainee lawyer at Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados (2014), in the Banking and Finance area, with special focus in the area of project finance. She is a member of the administrative and public law, TMT, data protection and the sports and entertainment teams. 

Currently, her practice focuses on several areas of administrative law. In particular, she regularly advises clients on the performance of concession agreements for public services and public works contracts, including administrative and public contracts litigation.

Mara is also experienced in regulated sectors, with emphasis in electronic communications and new and emerging technologies. In addition, she develops work in the areas of data protection and privacy, advising clients on drafting privacy and data protection policies, internal regulations, compliance programs, as well as preparing and reviewing contractual clauses and agreements applicable to the processing and transfer of data from and to other countries.

In the sport’s industry, Mara provides clients with legal assistance in matters related to her focus areas, including litigation before regulatory entities and competent national or international deciding bodies, having advised athletes, clubs, federations, and associations.

Law Degree (University of Lisbon School of Law, 2014). Master’s Degree in Law (University of Lisbon School of Law, 2018). Postgraduate Studies in Administrative Law (Católica Porto School of Law, 2019). Specialization course in Information Technology and Cybersecurity for Jurists (Técnico+, 2020). Currently attends the Postgraduate Studies in Digital Services (University of Lisbon School of Law).
