Tiago Arouca Mendes joined the firm in 2014 and has been working in HRA Advogados, in Maputo, since then.
Tiago began his career as a Junior Lawyer at Miranda Correia Amendoeira & Associados (2013), on the commercial & mining and energy departments, focusing on the Angolan and Mozambican markets. He was also a Legal Adviser at Pimenta, Dionisio e Associados in 2014.
He has been advising clients, mainly foreign, on restructuring processes, mergers, demergers, acquisition of interests in Mozambique or financing operations. He assists the clients throughout the complete business life cycle, from the approval of foreign investment projects, to corporate and exchange control, hiring of expatriates and labour law, pre-litigation and winding up and/or insolvency procedures, among others. Tiago has advised across different sectors including banking, energy (renewable and non-renewable), extractive industry, insurance, real estate, construction, FMCG, assisting NGOs, amongst others.
He has written articles for international publications (namely on Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructures/PPPs and Foreign Investment) and has participated as a speaker in workshops on immigration, local content, foreign exchange and labelling/packaging.
Law Degree (Nova Law School, 2013). LL.M. in International Business Law (Católica Global School of Law, 2019). Enrolled in the programme Master of Transnational Law (Católica Global School of Law).
