Isabel Carneiro Kahlen

Isabel Carneiro Kahlen advises on corporate/commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and capital markets transactions.
As a member of Team Genesis, she works daily alongside founders and national and international scalable emerging companies (tech and life sciences among others). The advice provided covers the full life cycle: fundraising (convertibles, preferred rounds, venture debt), growth/scaling and exits.
Isabel also advises international venture capital funds (lead investors) in connection with their equity investments in Portuguese start-ups (preferred rounds).
Isabel re-joins the firm in 2021 from Allen & Overy LLP in London, where she was a Senior Associate in the International Capital Markets (ICM) Department.
Between 2013 and 2021, while at Allen & Overy, Isabel advised the major investment banks, as well as corporate clients, in Europe on a broad range of capital markets transactions with a focus on bank and insurer regulatory capital issues, hybrid instruments, ESG, sovereign and supranational listings and liability management exercises.
She was a junior lawyer at Morais Leitão between 2008 and 2012, where she qualified as a Portuguese lawyer.

Law Degree (Católica Porto School of Law, 2007). Master’s Degree (MA) in Law and Economics (Católica Lisbon School of Law, 2014).
