Duarte Santana Lopes joined the firm in 2007.
He was first integrated in the administrative and public procurement team, where he focused on administrative litigation, regulation affairs and telecommunications, as well as on public procurement law and urban planning operations licensing.
In 2008, and to this date, Duarte became a member of the litigation and arbitration team, where he has been working mainly in the areas of criminal, civil and administrative offences litigation, as well as compliance.
Duarte has extensive trial experience, having been involved in various high-profile litigation cases in Portugal. Duarte participated in cases related to economic and financial crimes (corruption, money laundering, crimes related to capital markets, among others), corporate, commercial, compliance and regulatory issues, which have provided him with extensive know-how and experience in such matters.
From early 2013 until the end of 2015, Duarte was seconded from MLGTS and joined MdME, where, besides being the International Representative for China of the MLGTS Legal Circle, he worked mainly in the areas of criminal, civil and administrative litigation.
Duarte returned to MLGTS in the beginning of 2016, where he was reinstated in the litigation and arbitration team.
