Conference "European tax harmonization – The taxes in Portugal"

António Lobo Xavier, partner and coordinator of the tax team of the Oporto office of Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva, is present at the conference on "European tax harmonization – The taxes in Portugal", organised by the Union of Tax Workers,  - Porto District Commission, that takes place on May 9 at Hotel Tuela Porto.

António Lobo Xavier is part of the Squaring the Circle which also includes Carlos Andrade (journalist), Pacheco Pereira (Historian) and António Costa (President of the Lisbon Municipal Council).

António works with large national and multinational companies in the areas of finance, telecommunications, and industry as a member of the board of directors and as an adviser on finance and tax law. He is responsible for several organisational and restructuring operations and mergers and acquisitions, mainly as an expert on subjects related to double taxation treaties, vat, and corporate income tax.

António Lobo Xavier has also actively intervened in several arbitration proceedings as an arbitrator of the Administrative Arbitration Center. António was a member of the Portuguese Parliament at various times between 1983 and 1996 and was the leader of his party’s parliamentary group between 1992 and 1994.

António Lobo Xavier leads the Commission of the Corporate Income Tax Reform. He was a Member of the Fiscal Reform Commission of 1998.
