Conference “ Portugal – Brasil and Arbitration”

Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares de Silva, in cooperation with the Brazilian law firm Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. e Quiroga, hosted a conference on “Portugal – Brasil and Arbitration” on 30 April 09 at  the João Morais Leitão Auditorium.

Among the speakers  there were some of the  most important experts on Brazilian arbitration – Prof. Arnoldo Wald, Dr. José Emílio Nunes Pinto and Prof. João Bosco Lee - as well as the  President of the Portuguese Association of Arbitration, Dr. José Robin de Andrade.

Miguel Galvão Teles, António Pinto Leite and António Sampaio Caramelo were the specialists in arbitration from Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares de Silva present on the speaker panel,   Prof. Ary Oswaldo Mattos Filho and Flávio Pereira Lima from Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. e Quiroga were also present.

In the context of the integration of the Portuguese and Brazilian economies and its potential in the territory of Portuguese speaking countries, in particular in Angola and Mozambique, arbitration has become of the highest importance and this is the time to foresee the necessary mechanisms that assist in  deciding potential disputes. Arbitration has become a  growing alternative to the state system of justice, and thus it should be understood in depth by the companies that have investments in this field, as well as by the arbitrational community involved.
