Following its General Meeting, Morais Leitão is proud to announce the promotion of three equity partners and one non-equity partner.

Recognised for their unique talent and their best personal characteristics, the new partners strengthen the areas of Corporate; Litigation and Arbitration; Criminal, Regulatory Offences and Compliance; and Administrative Law/Urban Planning and Environment.

Fábio Castro Russo, Mariana Soares David and Tiago Geraldo are the new equity partners:

  • Fábio Castro Russo has particular experience in advising national and international clients on mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, including joint ventures, and general corporate law and corporate governance matters.
Fábio has been involved in a vast number of transactions in various sectors of activity, namely engineering and construction, manufacturing, construction materials, beverages and real estate. He has worked on cross-border matters, especially in the Iberian and Lusophone context, often participating in transactions with an international dimension, involving legal teams from multiple jurisdictions.
  • Mariana Soares David has a significant track record of litigation and arbitration proceedings successfully settled through highly complex multi-party negotiations.
Throughout her career, she has specialised in the prevention and resolution of disputes around the product value chain (namely related to the negotiation and termination of agency, franchise and commercial distribution contracts, product labelling and safety, producer liability, consumer rights, e-commerce and general contractual clauses) as well as those related to environmental/ESG liability.
She also has accrued experience in class actions, agribusiness, transport of hazardous products, insurance contracts, unfair competition, as well as in the resolution of disputes arising therefrom.
Mariana is certified as mediator and mediation master advocate by the Instituto de Certificação e Formação de Mediadores Lusófonos (ICFML) and is part of the exclusive list of mediators certified by the International Mediation Institute. She is also part of the list of mediators of the Ministry of Justice.
  • Tiago Geraldo has developed his professional activity essentially in the area of criminal litigation, including regulatory offences and particularly on economics and finance, also collaborating within the areas of competition law, corporate law, labour law and tax law, regarding criminal or quasi-criminal issues.
At the same time, he advises corporate and individual clients on matters and legal cases related to fit and proper and integrity control, both individually and collectively, and from the internal and external assessment and reassessment perspectives, as well as on matters related to compliance and regulatory enforcement, in different sectors such as banking, capital markets, auditing, energy, telecommunications and media.

Rui Ribeiro Lima is a specialist in urban planning and environmental matters and the new non-equity partner:

  • Rui Ribeiro Lima practices in several areas of administrative law, mainly in the areas of urban planning, environment, expropriations and public procurement, both in procedural matters as well as in administrative litigation.
Rui provides legal advice to clients in what concerns the licensing of activities, as well as urban planning and zoning. He has also been involved in assisting clients in environmental impact assessment procedures and in environmental offences.

We congratulate and welcome our new partners!
