Pedro Capitão Barbosa

Pedro Capitão Barbosa joined Morais Leitão in 2011. He is a member of the firm’s corporate and M&A, capital markets team.

Pedro is also a member of the firm’s cross-sectional Private Equity  team where he has been involved in domestic and cross-border private transactions and restructurings (including joint ventures and minority acquisitions, investments and divestments of corporate divisions) in a wide array of sectors, as well as in equity and convertible investment rounds, in both cases involving private equity and other private market sponsors.

He also works with management companies and fund promoters on the incorporation, restructuring, governance and regulatory matters of alternative investment funds (particularly buyout funds, infrastructure, funds, secondary funds, and venture capital funds). More recently, he has helped design and implement club deals and other alternative investment structures. His fund formation work entails also rendering services on Sustainability: ESG and Human Rights issues to fund managers and promoters.

His general corporate law practice focuses on corporate restructuring and acquisition transactions, and also advice on corporate governance matters for listed and non-listed companies.

In what concerns capital markets, Pedro has been involved in equity capital markets operations, intervening in public tender offers, rights issues, private placements and other restructuring operations.
 
 





 

Education

Law Degree (Faculty of Law, Nova University of Lisbon, 2010). LL.M in Finance and Law (Duisenberg School of Finance, 2011). Training in Accounting for Lawyers (University of Lisbon, 2016).

Portuguese, English and Spanish.
