Pedro Gouveia e Melo was elected President of the UAE – European Lawyers’ Union for the term 2020-2022 in the General Assembly of 13 November 2020, which this year was held by videoconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UAE, established in 1986 in Luxembourg, is a non-profit association bringing together the practicing lawyers in all the Member States of the European Union, with the primary aim of promoting the professional practice of law in Europe, as well as furthering the practice of European Union Law and of the European Convention on Human Rights. The U.A.E. and its regional delegations and commissions organize numerous conferences and other events across Europe and promote the publication of the most relevant contributions. The UAE organizes annually the UAE Scholarship for Young Lawyers.
