Claudia Santos Cruz to speak at maritime arbitration conference

Claudia Santos Cruz, partner and head of the Shipping practice team at Morais Leitão, will take part in the conference “Specialised Arbitrations: Maritime Arbitration”, organised by PLMJ and CAM Lisboa – the Maritime Arbitration Centre of the CONCÓRDIA Association. The event will take place in Lisbon on 2 July and will bring together international and national experts to discuss key legal developments in the maritime sector, at a time of growing complexity and internationalisation in the ocean economy in Portugal.

The conference aims to explore current topics such as the impact of the trade war on shipping disputes and the development of maritime commerce, a sector that has seen significant investment and continues to show strong growth potential.

Claudia Santos Cruz will join the opening panel, entitled “The impact of the trade war is generating disputes in shipping”, where she will examine the legal consequences of international trade tensions on the maritime sector and highlight the role of arbitration as a specialised and effective solution for transnational disputes. Claudia is also an arbitrator appointed by CAM Lisboa.

The conference will also be attended by Joana Galvão Teles, partner in the international Arbitration team at Morais Leitão and member of the Management Board of the CONCÓRDIA Arbitration Centre, as well as Francisco Campos Braz, who is part of the Shipping practice team at Morais Leitão.
