David Silva Ramalho nominated by the Portuguese Criminal Police (Polícia Judiciária) to take part in the CLARUS Project online workshop

David Silva Ramalho is one of the speakers at the online workshop of the CLARUS Project, a European initiative focused on enhancing fairness, transparency and consistency in digital forensic investigations.

The CLARUS Project brings together a consortium of 11 European partners – including forensic experts, academics, law enforcement agencies and linguistics specialists – with the aim of understanding how communication, professional culture and decision-making influence the handling of digital evidence. Portugal is represented in this consortium by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) and the Public Security Police (Polícia de Segurança Pública – PSP).

The workshop, entitled “Digital Forensic Investigation: Challenges, Transparency and Addressing Bias”, will take place online on 5 November, with an estimated duration of three hours. The session will present initial research findings, namely the development of a multilingual digital evidence lexicon and a bias-checking tool, both designed to support forensic and judicial professionals in the clear and impartial communication of digital evidence.

David Silva Ramalho’s participation is particularly relevant given his recognised expertise in cybersecurity and digital investigation. His perspective will be valuable for discussions on best practices, professional training, and the establishment of European standards for digital forensic work, directly contributing to the success and impact of the CLARUS Project’s initiatives.

Co-funded by the European Union, the CLARUS Project aims to strengthen trust in digital forensic science across Europe, promoting transparency, collaboration and fairness at every stage of the investigative process.
