David Silva Ramalho speaks at the “Understanding Bitcoins and Cryptocurrency Technologies” seminar

David Silva Ramalho will take part in the online seminar “Understanding Bitcoins and Cryptocurrency Technologies – Mining, Blockchain and Investigative Techniques”, organised by the Academy of European Law (ERA), on 20 and 21 October 2026.

On 20 October, at 11:15 a.m., David Silva Ramalho will present the session “Criminal use of cryptocurrencies and investigative opportunities”, focusing on the unlawful use of cryptocurrencies and the challenges they pose to criminal investigations. Topics will include the dark web, money laundering, the identification of cryptoassets in investigations, their seizure, and intelligence and evidence-gathering tools.

The programme also includes sessions on blockchain, mining, transaction tracing, cryptoasset recovery and investigative methods applied to this type of crime.
