Filipe Vaz Pinto and Filipe Galvão Teles participate in ICCA 2026

Filipe Vaz Pinto and Filipe Galvão Teles will participate in the 27th Congress of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), taking place in Madrid from 12 to 15 April 2026.

The 2026 edition will be held under the theme “International Arbitration: Local, Global or Both?”, focusing on the evolution of international arbitration in an increasingly complex context shaped by the tension between global harmonisation and adaptation to local specificities.

Key topics to be discussed include:

  • The balance between uniform international standards and differentiated regional practices
  • The impact of the expansion of arbitration into new geographies
  • The role of instruments such as the UNCITRAL Model Law and the IBA Rules in the harmonisation of procedures
  • The importance of cultural and legal diversity in the evolution of the arbitral system

The Congress aims to examine how international arbitration can maintain its global effectiveness without compromising the richness of local traditions, while promoting predictability, flexibility and the inclusion of diverse perspectives.

ICCA is a leading international organisation dedicated to promoting and developing arbitration, conciliation and other forms of dispute resolution. Its biennial congress is widely recognised as one of the foremost global forums for discussion in this field, bringing together practitioners, academics and decision-makers from multiple jurisdictions.
