Joana Maria Andion participates as a speaker at a conference dedicated to trade secrets

Joana Maria Andion, associate at Morais Leitão, will be one of the guest speakers at the conference ‘Trade secrets: everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask’, organised by the Intellectual and Industrial Property Section of ICAM, in collaboration with LES Spain and Portugal. The session will take place on 20 May at 7 p.m. in the Sala Consejo of the ICAM in Madrid.

Trade secrets are a form of protection for innovation that has been used regularly by companies, albeit in different ways depending on the economic sector and geographical area. In Europe, it received an initial boost through the 2016 Directive, implemented in all EU countries, although there is still a need for further harmonisation, especially in view of the emergence of the data economy and the entry into force of new regulations such as the Data Act, the Data Governance Act and the Artificial Intelligence Regulation. On the other hand, doubts, questions and uncertainties remain regarding its use by lawyers and companies.

Joana Maria Andion's presentation is part of a panel of experts who will address the main challenges and best practices for the effective protection, management and defence of trade secrets. Moderated by Javier Fernández-Lasquetty (Of Counsel IP/IT at Ramon y Cajal Abogados), the session will also feature Erika Jiménez (President of LES Spain and Portugal), Jose Miguel Lissen (Partner at Bird & Bird) and Cristina Espín (Senior Associate at Elzaburu).
