Joaquim Vieira Peres to speak at European competition law conference

Joaquim Vieira Peres, partner at Morais Leitão and president of the Portuguese Circle of Competition Law Lawyers, will be a speaker at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Association of European Competition Law Judges (AECLJ), taking place from 26 to 28 June at the Convento de São Francisco in Santarém, Portugal.

His intervention is scheduled for 27 June, during Session 4, dedicated to the topic “Infringements by object and by effect in private enforcement”. Joaquim Vieira Peres will join a panel alongside Carlos Marinho, Judge at the Lisbon Court of Appeal, and Jean-François Laborde, court expert in France and Luxembourg. The session will be moderated by Peter Roth, Judge at the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal and former President of the AECLJ.

This annual meeting is one of the leading European conferences focused on competition law, bringing together judges, academics and legal professionals from across jurisdictions. The 2025 edition will place particular emphasis on infringements by object and by effect, analysed in various contexts: CJEU case law, enforcement by national authorities and the European Commission, public procurement cases and private enforcement.
