Magda Viçoso discusses the limits of AI Agent autonomy at Portugal Digital Summit 2026

Magda Viçoso, Partner and Board Member at Morais Leitão, is taking part in the panel “Human ↔ Agent: Where do you draw the line?”, held as part of Portugal Digital Summit 2026, for a discussion on the legal, organisational and governance challenges associated with the growing adoption of artificial intelligence agents within organisations.

At a time when artificial intelligence is evolving from systems that support and recommend to solutions capable of acting with an increasing degree of autonomy, the debate focuses on a central question: where should the line be drawn between human decision-making and the actions of AI Agents?

The session examines the criteria required for the responsible adoption of these technologies, particularly in regulated environments, bringing together technological, legal and management perspectives. Topics under discussion include the limits of agent autonomy, governance models, accountability for final decisions, and the oversight mechanisms that should accompany their use.

The panel also features Ricardo Gonçalves, Head of Center for Artificial Intelligence & Analytics at Fidelidade, Francesco Costigliola, Senior Teaching Fellow and AI Strategy Advisor at AESE Business School and Costigliola Advisory, and Miguel Leocádio, Executive Board Member at Glintt Global. The discussion is moderated by Rosa de Oliveira Pinto, journalist at SIC Notícias.

The panel takes place on 21 October on the Future of AI Agents & Skills Stage, as part of Portugal Digital Summit 2026, which runs on 21 and 22 October.
