Martim Krupenski in interview with Iberian Lawyer advocates for people-driven and innovation-led legal practice

Martim Krupenski, managing partner at Morais Leitão, shared his vision for the future of the legal profession in an interview with Iberian Lawyer, highlighting the importance of people-centric management, technological innovation and well-being as strategic pillars of the law firm.

With an academic background that combines law, philosophy, management and psychotherapy, Krupenski promotes a leadership model grounded in ethics, efficiency and the appreciation of human talent. His role as co-founder of the association Direito Mental reflects this commitment—to promote mental health in the legal sector through concrete actions and measurable indicators. At Morais Leitão, this translates into nearly 70 active well-being measures, including paid sabbaticals, flexible working hours, and an informal, supportive workplace culture.

In the field of innovation, the firm invests between 3% and 5% of its annual revenue in technology projects tailored to clients’ specific legal challenges. Notable initiatives include tools supporting corporate governance and a partnership with Mind Over Data to develop AI-based legal solutions. The strategy is not to sell software, but to apply the firm’s legal know-how to create effective technological tools.

International expansion remains a priority. Alongside a strong presence in Angola and Mozambique, the opening of an office in Singapore in 2023 marked a new chapter in the firm’s global positioning. At the same time, Morais Leitão is closely monitoring the momentum of the domestic market, particularly in M&A, litigation, compliance, and tech-driven legal services.

Internal leadership development is also evolving. The firm is preparing to launch a new programme that blends legal leadership training with high-performance sports psychology, reinforcing the idea that lawyers must be prepared as true “mental athletes”.
