Morais Leitão establishes immigration and international mobility team

Morais Leitão has set up a specialised immigration and international mobility team led by Inês Azevedo, a lawyer with extensive experience in advising domestic and international clients on immigration, visas and residence permits and comprising lawyers Filipa Matta May and Laura Garção.

Integrated into the Employment, Social Security and Immigration Department, the new team will ensure, on a cross-practice basis, the support of corporate and private clients at all stages of migration processes, including legal planning, application preparation, liaison with the relevant authorities and ongoing assistance after residence status is granted. This strengthening further consolidates Morais Leitão’s position as a leading law firm in advising on projects with an international dimension.

The new team has a solid track record in migration and significant experience in advising corporate groups, investors and employees on international assignments, as well as their families, on matters such as work and temporary residence visas, visas for entrepreneurs and investors, residence permits and special taxation regimes linked to mobility. The team is also experienced in structuring internal global mobility policies.

‘Migration and international mobility issues are gaining increasing relevance in the strategies of companies and individual clients alike. The integration of this team allows us to offer an even more comprehensive and coordinated service, linking the area of migration with tax, labour, corporate, real estate and private clients services to address all our clients' needs,’ says Martim Krupenski, Managing Partner at Morais Leitão.

The newly integrated team will work closely with the various departments at Morais Leitão, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach that is aligned with the regulatory and operational requirements associated with the hiring of international talent, relocation of teams, establishment of service centres in Portugal and attraction of foreign investment.

‘It is with great enthusiasm that we begin this new chapter at Morais Leitão. Our priority is to provide rigorous, personalised and efficient support for all those who choose Portugal as a place to work, invest, study or live, contributing to safe, predictable and sustainable migration solutions,’ adds Inês Azevedo.
