Morais Leitão will host the 6th edition of the New Money Conference – New Wave of Digital Money on 10 February at its premises in Lisbon. This initiative is promoted in partnership with ECO and is dedicated to discussing the new Portuguese fintech ecosystem and the digital transformation of the financial sector.
Filipe Lowndes Marques, partner at Morais Leitão, will take part in the opening session of the New Money Conference, alongside António Costa, Director of ECO, addressing the legal and regulatory framework of the new wave of digital money and fintech in Portugal.
MiCA Regulation and the Portuguese fintech ecosystem
Vera Esteves Cardoso, counsel at Morais Leitão, will moderate the panel “The New Portuguese Fintech Ecosystem: Access to Payment Systems, Bank Accounts and Opportunities under the MiCA Framework”, focusing on the impact of the MiCA Regulation (Markets in Crypto-Assets), access to payment systems and bank accounts, and opportunities for the development of the fintech sector in Portugal.
Embedded finance and innovation in financial services
João Diogo Barbosa, associate at Morais Leitão, will moderate the panel “Embedded finance: is the best service the one you do not see?”, dedicated to the integration of financial services into digital platforms, embedded finance and new business models in the financial sector.
The New Money Conference brings together experts from the financial industry, the fintech ecosystem and key technology areas, fostering a high-level debate on financial innovation, regulation and the future of the financial sector in Portugal.
