Morais Leitão presents new technological solutions and reinforces its commitment to innovation
Morais Leitão recently organised Tomorrow Day, a presentation session that brought together journalists with the aim of raising awareness of the firm's strategic development.
Morais Leitão presented the first technological products developed in-house as part of its transition to multidisciplinarity. Technology is now an active part of the firm's value proposition, but without changing its identity: Morais Leitão recognises that technology is here to stay, but stresses that it has no ambition to become a software company.
The big news was the launch of MLOne Governance, an online corporate management portal hosted on the Microsoft 365 platform, designed to consolidate all corporate information on holding companies, subsidiaries and investees in a single location. The tool allows users to manage minutes, share purchase programmes, mergers and demergers, results presentations and general meetings. Marketed on a subscription basis, the portal adapts to the needs of each client, with legal and technological support from the company both during the configuration phase and on an ongoing basis.
In addition, Pointer.ai was presented, a platform developed in partnership with Portuguese technology company Mind Over Data. Based on machine learning algorithms and natural language processing, the system allows the identification of risky behaviour and relationships in compliance processes through the analysis of large volumes of data and business communications.
The firm is also internally testing ML One AI, a chatbot based on Azure technology, similar to ChatGPT, but with data hosted on Morais Leitão's private cloud to ensure maximum confidentiality. The pilot project already involves 60 employees from different departments.
These solutions are part of the new ML Tech and Knowledge area, launched in early 2025, which combines traditional legal practice with consulting and technological innovation services. Since then, Morais Leitão has held more than 40 meetings with companies to present this new value proposition. The change also resulted in the renovation of part of the headquarters in Lisbon, with flexible workspaces and collaborative areas, bringing it closer to the model of large consulting firms.
The commitment to multidisciplinarity also includes the appointment of non-lawyer partners, such as Carlos Eduardo Coelho, Director of Innovation and Knowledge, now responsible for the consulting and technological development area. Morais Leitão was the first firm in Portugal to publicly announce this new positioning, establishing itself as a legal reference with the capacity to respond to the challenges of digital transformation.
