Nuno Galvão Teles in a statement to Jornal de Negócios on the increase in legal activity
Nuno Galvão Teles, chairman of Morais Leitão, in a statement to Jornal de Negócios, highlighted that “the first half of 2025 was marked by an increase in activity compared to the same period in 2024, with a higher number of ongoing projects.” According to the lawyer, this growth is directly linked to the increasingly complex regulatory environment, which has demanded a more specialised and multidisciplinary response from law firms.
Among the most dynamic practice areas, Nuno Galvão Teles points to litigation — particularly international arbitration, class actions and private enforcement proceedings — noting that these areas “have gained relevance due to the increasing complexity of corporate disputes and the evolution of the European regulatory framework.”
On the transactional side, the chairman of Morais Leitão also highlights the strong performance of the Real Estate and Energy sectors. He notes that the real estate sector “performed very well, with large-scale M&A transactions,” while the energy sector — particularly in the renewables domain — “remained active, with legally demanding projects aligned with sustainability goals.” Nuno Galvão Teles concludes by stating that “private equity activity also saw a clear boost, particularly through new investments.”
