Pedro Costa Gonçalves elected Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra

Pedro Costa Gonçalves, partner at Morais Leitão, was elected Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra during the meeting of the Faculty Assembly held on 11 June.

He succeeds Jonatas Machado, who held the position for two terms, and now takes on the leadership of one of the most prestigious legal education institutions in Portugal.

Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, Pedro Costa Gonçalves is a leading figure in the fields of Administrative Law, Public Regulation and Public Contracts. In addition to his academic and legal practice, he plays an active role in promoting legal knowledge, serving as President of the Institute for Legal Communication, President of the Centre for Studies in Public Law and Regulation (CEDIPRE), and Editor-in-Chief of the Public Contracts Law Review.

His election to this position stands as a recognition of his academic career and his leadership within the Portuguese legal landscape.
