Rui de Oliveira Neves comments on the sixth edition of the SLI programme in 'Público'

The newspaper recently highlighted the participation of Rui de Oliveira Neves, partner at Morais Leitão, as an activator in the 6th edition of the Sustainable Living Innovators (SLI) programme, promoted by CEiiA – Centre for Engineering and Development. This initiative seeks to develop solutions to the challenges of life on the Moon that will also have a tangible impact on Earth and address some of the most pressing global issues.

In the article published on 29 July, Rui de Oliveira Neves praised the quality of the projects presented, noting that they all shared a common concern: ensuring that space-inspired solutions also serve humanity.

“Space is part of what we now call the new economy, which is rapidly growing. Although still a niche, it is a sector with the potential to project Portugal on a global scale,” he stated.

SLI is an immersive innovation programme that brings together secondary school and university students to develop technologies inspired by lunar life scenarios that can be applied on Earth. The 2025 edition runs from 11 July to 8 August under the theme 'Living on the Moon, Heart on the Planet' and focuses on areas such as construction, mobility, energy, and health.

Morais Leitão provides institutional support for this edition of the programme and is represented by Rui de Oliveira Neves in his role as activator. In this capacity, he contributes a strategic, ethical and legal perspective, guiding participants in designing projects that combine technological ambition, social responsibility and practical feasibility.

This collaboration is part of Morais Leitão’s broader strategy to support transformative initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and legal reflection on the challenges of the emerging space economy.
