The video of the “Certification” panel, part of the Global Class Actions Symposium 2025, is now available. The conference took place on 18 and 19 November in London and featured Mariana Soares David as a panellist.
The Morais Leitão partner took part in a debate dedicated to one of the most decisive stages of class actions: certification. The panel focused on comparing approaches across different jurisdictions, examining the main certification criteria, as well as the risks and advantages associated with this procedural stage, which is often regarded as a true mini-trial due to its strategic importance for the outcome of class actions.
The panel was moderated by Elisa Mariscal, Principal at Cornerstone Research, and also included Hal Singer, Managing Director at Econ One, and Jonathon Egerton-Peters, Partner at Proskauer, bringing together juridical and economic perspectives on class action certification across different legal systems.
