Salvador Sampaio Fontes joined the Firm in March 2020. He is a member of the
banking and finance team. His practice focuses primarily on structured finance, debt capital markets, project finance, and financial restructurings. He regularly advises banks, financial institutions, corporates and funds on complex financing transactions, often with a cross-border component.
His experience includes advising on a wide range of financial structures, including bond issuances (standalone and programme-based, including EMTN and covered bonds), syndicated and bilateral loan facilities, intercreditor arrangements, and security packages involving multiple jurisdictions and asset types. He is also involved in debt restructuring matters in distressed finance contexts.
He has also advised financial institutions and international investors on banking and financial regulatory matters, particularly in connection with market access in Portugal and the regulatory classification of financial products and services under the applicable legal framework.
Prior to joining the firm, Salvador attended an internship at the legal department of Banco Santander Totta (July 2018) and at Bank of Portugal (2019).
He also attended a short-term internship at Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados (August 2019).
