Joana Galvão Teles participates in international arbitration training and conference in São Tomé and Príncipe

Joana Galvão Teles, partner at Morais Leitão and member of the Board of the Commercial Arbitration Centre (CAC), is in São Tomé and Príncipe delivering an advanced arbitration training course aimed at judges and public prosecutors. The programme is organised by the newly created São Tomé and Príncipe Arbitration Centre (CA-CCIAS), in collaboration with the CAC.

The training, taking place from 6 to 8 October, is designed to equip magistrates with specialised skills in the supervision of arbitration, including the interpretation of arbitration agreements, the appointment and oversight of arbitrators, and the enforcement of arbitral awards.

In parallel, Joana Galvão Teles is also part of the programme of the 1st International Arbitration and Economy Conference, held on 9 and 10 October at the Pestana Hotel, in São Tomé. Under the theme “Arbitration and Economic Development: Pathways to a Sustainable Business Environment”, the conference brings together national and international experts to debate the role of arbitration in dispute resolution and in attracting investment.

The partner will take part in two panels on the first day of the event:

  • “Arbitration in São Tomé and Príncipe – Challenges and Opportunities”;
  • “The Status of the Arbitrator”.

More information is available on the CA-CCIAS.
