Morais Leitão Lawyers participate in the 3rd Edition of the NOVA Summer School on International Arbitration
Joana Galvão Teles, Mariana Soares David and Joana Granadeiro participate in the 3rd edition of the NOVA Summer School on International Arbitration, taking place from 7 to 11 July in Lisbon. The programme brings together students and professionals for an intensive immersion into the key topics of international arbitration. The participation of our lawyers as speakers and session facilitators highlights Morais Leitão’s ongoing commitment to promoting knowledge and training the next generation of professionals in this field.
The opening session took place this morning, 7 July, and featured welcome remarks by Joana Galvão Teles, representing both NOVA and Morais Leitão, alongside co-organiser Joana Campos Carvalho, marking the start of a week dedicated to both theoretical and practical exploration of core arbitration topics.
On 9 July, participants will have the opportunity to visit Morais Leitão’s offices for a morning session dedicated to the analysis of arbitral awards, led by Joana Galvão Teles and Melanie Riofrio Piche, an independent arbitrator at Riofrio-IDR. The session will cover the structure and drafting of arbitral awards, mechanisms for challenging and annulling awards, and the application of the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
That same afternoon, Mariana Soares David and Joana Granadeiro will lead the “Mediation Windows” workshop, offering participants a hands-on, interactive experience on mediation in arbitral contexts, while emphasising the growing relevance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
