Morais Leitão hosts conference "Competition: Review and Outlook"

On 14 May 2026, Morais Leitão hosts the conference Competition: Review and Outlook at its Lisbon office — a full day bringing together regulators, economists, judges and lawyers to discuss the key developments and challenges shaping competition law.

The conference opens with Joaquim Vieira Peres, Partner at Morais Leitão, followed by a keynote address by Nuno Cunha Rodrigues, President of the Portuguese Competition Authority.

Throughout the day, the programme is structured around five thematic panels:

  • Concentrations and Industrial Policy — with Paulo Gonçalves (Competition Authority), Inês Gouveia (Morais Leitão), Luís Fontaine Campos (Frontier Economics) and Ricardo Bordalo Junqueiro (VdA). Moderated by Luís Nascimento Ferreira, Partner at Morais Leitão.
  • Private Enforcement — with Marta Campos (Competition, Regulation and Supervision Court), Barbara Veronese (Oxera), Miguel Sousa Ferro (Sousa Ferro e Associados) and Ricardo Oliveira (PLMJ). Moderated by Philipp Melcher, Partner at Morais Leitão.
  • Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Screening — with Miguel Moura e Silva (Competition Authority), Aylin Hoffs (Gleiss Lutz) and Sara Fernández (Addleshaw Goddard). Moderated by Pedro de Gouveia e Melo, Partner at Morais Leitão.
  • European Funds — with Alexandra Vilela (Compete 2030), Helena Pinheiro Azevedo (Sustentável 2030) and Ricardo Pinheiro (Alentejo 2030). Moderated by Eduardo Maia Cadete, Partner at Morais Leitão.
  • Competition and Regulation in the Digital Sector — with Ana Sofia Rodrigues (Competition Authority), Raquel Brízida Castro (ANACOM), Christine Martins (Worten), Luís Soares (NOS) and Nuno Alvim (RBB Economics). Moderated by Inês Ferrari Careto, Principal Associate at Morais Leitão.

The programme also includes networking moments, with coffee breaks and a standing lunch, and closes with an interview with Miguel Poiares Maduro, Dean of Católica Global School of Law, conducted by Carlos Botelho Moniz, Partner at Morais Leitão. The closing remarks will be delivered by Luís Nascimento Ferreira.
