Morais Leitão lawyers take part in the Advanced Course on Expropriations for Public Utility and Administrative Easements
Between 14 January and 13 February 2026, the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon is hosting the Advanced Course on Expropriations for Public Utility and Administrative Easements, held online via the Zoom platform.
Morais Leitão plays an active role in the course, with several of its lawyers participating across multiple sessions. Of particular note is our Counsel Jorge Pação, who serves as scientific coordinator of the programme alongside Professor João Miranda.
Our lawyers contribute to the following sessions of the programme:
- Miguel Nogueira de Brito – 16 January: session on “The constitutional guarantee of private property and expropriations”.
- Rui Ribeiro Lima – 21 January: two sessions on “Expropriation administrative procedure: declaration of public utility and types of expropriation – regular, urgent and highly urgent” and “Expropriation administrative procedure: administrative possession and inspection ad perpetuam rei memoriam”.
- Miguel Arnaud de Oliveira – 28 January: session on “Fair compensation: practical cases”, and 13 February: session on “Administrative easements: compensation for their establishment and judicial process”.
- Bernardo Azevedo – 6 February: two sessions on “Administrative easements: concept and distinction from related legal figures” and “Administrative easements: types and administrative procedures for establishment”.
- Jorge Pação – 11 February: session on “Administrative easements, public domain and other restrictions on private property”.
The course offers a comprehensive and up-to-date analysis of the legal framework governing expropriations and administrative easements, based on recent case law, evolving academic perspectives and the practical challenges associated with public intervention over private property. It is aimed at lawyers, magistrates, public administration officials and technical experts, as well as other professionals with a particular interest in this area.
