Morais Leitão announces the appointment of Francisco Mendes da Silva as new co-head of the Tax Department, joining Bruno Santiago.
Recognized for its extensive track record in tax law, Morais Leitão's Tax Department has always strived to keep up with the latest market trends. This new head represents another step along that path, reflecting the firm's commitment to keeping up with the sector's evolution and the new responsibilities that this entails.
Bruno Santiago, who has led the Tax Department for four years, works in national and international taxation, both in consultancy and in litigation and dispute resolution. With around 25 years' experience at Morais Leitão, he leads teams dedicated to assisting clients in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and international investment operations.
Francisco Mendes da Silva has been a partner at Morais Leitão since 2021, practicing law here since 2006. His practice covers most tax matters, with a special emphasis on highly complex litigation at administrative, judicial, arbitral, constitutional and European level. In addition to matters relating to traditional taxes, such as corporate income tax, VAT or stamp duty, Francisco has established himself as one of the leading specialists in new trends in tax policy, particularly in sectoral or regulatory taxation, a field in which he usually leads the firm's teams of lawyers.
The two coordinators stress that “Morais Leitão's Tax Department is marked by a unique legacy and a tradition of excellence. This new phase represents the continuity of our approach, focused on comprehensive solutions tailored to our clients' needs, while maintaining the level of specialized advice to which they have become accustomed.”
