A Retribuição no Ordenamento Juslaboral Português

Isabel Valente Dias, a partner at Morais Leitão, is the author of A Retribuição no Ordenamento Juslaboral Português, a work based on her doctoral thesis and to be published by Almedina.

Scheduled for release on 15 October, the book is already available for pre-order and analyses the legal concept of remuneration in labour law from a conceptual perspective, seeking to define the meaning, scope and function of remuneration within the framework of the employment contract.

Among other aspects, the book examines the legal framework governing the obligation to pay remuneration, the statutory definition of remuneration and its essential elements, as well as its forms, structure and systems. It also addresses remuneration from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives, distinguishing between different operative concepts of remuneration depending on the purpose at stake.

Throughout the book, a number of legal issues involving remuneration concepts are also analysed, together with a critical reflection on the approaches adopted by the courts.
