Comentário Conimbricense do Código Penal – Parte Especial

Tiago da Costa Andrade, Principal Associate at Morais Leitão, is one of the authors of the second edition of Volume III of the Comentário Conimbricense do Código Penal – Parte Especial, which is currently available to pre-order from the publisher, Gestlegal.

This volume covers Articles 308 to 389 of the Portuguese Criminal Code and addresses crimes against the state and companion animals. It completes the long-awaited comprehensive update of the Comentário Conimbricense, which is the most authoritative systematic commentary on the Portuguese Criminal Code.

The original edition of this volume dates from 2001, making this update particularly necessary. Over the last 25 years, significant changes have been made to the legal landscape, with new offences being introduced to the Criminal Code, including money laundering, the undue receipt or offer of an advantage, and crimes against companion animals. These changes required new commentary in this edition. The team of contributors has grown and been rejuvenated to include a new generation of criminal law scholars from the Faculty of Law at the University of Coimbra.

This edition brings together a distinguished group of Portuguese criminal law scholars under the coordination of Jorge de Figueiredo Dias and Manuel da Costa Andrade and will be available from 29 May 2026.
