Oliver Araújo

International Consultant

Oliver Araújo joined Morais Leitão in 2020. He advises the firm on matters regarding Cape Verde.  

He is a lawyer and legal consultant since 2011, having worked in areas such as civil, commercial, labour, public law, public procurement, public contracts (especially concession contracts, public-private partnerships and privatisations), investment, arbitration, various legislative reviews, land registration under the Millennium Challenge Account program, among others.

Currently, he is a member of the High Council of the Cape Verde Bar Association.

Previously, Oliver has served as Legal Advisor at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, in the General Direction of Public Assets and Public Procurement, where he also acted as Service Director at the Direction of Patrimonial Defense. He served as Chairman of the General Assembly of the Cape Verde Post Office (Correios de Cabo Verde) between 2014 and 2015 and from 2015 as Legal Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Operational Nucleus for the Information Society (NOSI).

He was also a lecturer in academic education between 2010 and 2012 of Right in Rem, Obligations and Succession.
 
Education

Law Degree (University of Lisbon School of Law, 2006). Master’s Degree in Legal Sciences (University of Lisbon School of Law, 2009). Advanced training in “International Negotiation” (organized jointly by the Portuguese Institute of International Relations, the Ministry of Finance and Cape Verde Planning, and the Cape Verde Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Praia, 2015). Training in “Leadership in Development Management” (Pedro Pires Institute for Leadership, first phase in Cape Verde, second phase in the United States, Bridgewater State University, 2016). Training in “Human Resources Management and Labor and Tax legislation” (High Skills, 2017). Training for Trainers (Guia de Serviços, Praia 2018). Team Leadership with Emotional Intelligence (Guia de Serviços, Praia, 2018).
