Dzhamil Oda

Managing Associate

Dzhamil Oda joined Morais Leitão in 2011. He is a member of the European law and competition and the sports and entertainment teams. He is also a member of Team Genesis.

In the context of European law and competition practice, Dzhamil actively intervenes in merger control procedures, State aid (notably in matters related to European Structural and Investment Funds) and competition related litigation. Dzhamil also represents clients before European institutions.

He regularly advises the energy sector, particularly on regulations and compliance.

In what concerns sports law, his practice focuses on regulatory and litigation matters before international sports organizations (in particular, FIFA and the AFC) and before the Court of Arbitration for Sports, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Dzhamil Oda is a member of the Justice Council of the Portuguese Bridge Federation.

Within Team Genesis – created by Morais Leitão to instruct startups and SMEs and advise business angels, venture capital and private equity – Dzhamil is responsible for public subsidies and incentives (both national and European Union).

Previously, Dzhamil worked with the firm’s litigation and arbitration team and also with the corporate and M&A and capital markets teams.

Postgraduate Studies in Sports Law (Católica Lisbon School of Law, October 2016 – February 2017). Master in Transnational Law (Católica Global School of Law/Católica University Lisbon Law School, 2019).
