Jorge Simões Cortez joined the firm in 2006 and became a partner in 2011. He is a member of the corporate and M&A team, with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions in various sectors.
Prior to joining the firm, Jorge worked as a legal adviser with the BPI Bank (1990-1999) and as a Consultant at the law firm Osório de Castro, Verde Pinho, Vieira Peres, Lobo Xavier e Associados – Sociedade de Advgados (1999-2005).
He was an Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração Pública (1990-1991) and at Católica Porto School of Law (1991-1992).
Over the years Jorge Simões Cortez has held conferences and seminars in multiple institutions (e.g. OROC - Accountants Association and Porto Business School), while publishing both individually and in collective works on issues of corporate law, with a special focus on the transfer of quotas and shares. He is currently a researcher at the Centre for Legal Research of the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto.
