Morais Leitão and Stinma host conference on the new EU AML package in the real estate sector

Morais Leitão, in partnership with Stinma and with the special participation of IMPIC, will host on 23 April, at its Lisbon office, the Forum “The New European AML Package: practical impacts and challenges in the real estate sector”.

The new European legislative package on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing introduces enhanced requirements for the real estate sector, strengthening regulatory harmonisation and intensifying supervisory oversight. This Forum will bring together public authorities, lawyers and market participants to discuss the practical impacts of the new framework and the key challenges of its implementation in Portugal.

The opening session, dedicated to “The real estate sector in light of the new European AML framework”, will feature contributions from Fernando Batista (President of IMPIC), Duarte Santana Lopes (Partner at Morais Leitão) and Miguel Trindade Rocha (Partner at Stinma).

This will be followed by a panel discussion on “New rules, new supervision: the impact of the EU AML package on real estate”, with participation from Florbela Rocha (Legal & Compliance Officer at Dils), Nuno Trezentos (Chief Risk Officer at White Star), Paulo Lopes (CEO of Casaiberia and Vice-President of APEMIP) and Patrícia Garcia (Senior Associate at Morais Leitão), moderated by Patrique Fernandes (Partner at Stinma).

After the coffee break, a second panel will take place on “KYC in real estate: identification, due diligence and risk management in practice”, with contributions from Miguel Trindade Rocha (Partner at Stinma), Tiago Lambin (Director of Inspection at IMPIC) and Ricardo Sousa (CEO of Century 21), and moderated by Duarte Santana Lopes.
