Nuno Igreja Matos takes part in debate on the limits of humour

Nuno Igreja Matos is co-organising and moderating the debate “The Criminal Limits of Humour: The Léo Lins Case”, which will take place on 3 June at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. The debate aims to discuss the use of criminal law in relation to humorous speech.

Drawing on and examining the Brazilian case of comedian Léo Lins, António Brito Neves (Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and adviser to the Supreme Court of Justice) will argue in favour of criminal limits on humour, while Beatriz Corrêa Camargo (Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Uberlândia) will defend freedom of humorous expression.

The debate will be followed by commentary from comedian Hugo van der Ding.
