Tiago Geraldo and Ema Roma will be the speakers at the webinar “The New ‘Lobbying’ Law”, organised by AmCham with the support of Morais Leitão, taking place on 8 September.
The session, which is free of charge and exclusively available to AmCham members, will focus on Law No. 5-A/2026 of 28 January, which establishes new transparency rules applicable to national and foreign private entities engaging in the legitimate representation of interests before public entities and creates the Transparency Register for the Representation of Interests.
In force since 27 July 2026, the so-called Lobbying Law adopts a broad definition of the legitimate representation of interests, encompassing activities aimed at directly or indirectly influencing the formulation of public policies, the drafting of legislation, the adoption of administrative acts or the award of public contracts.
Among other activities, the new framework covers formal and informal contacts with public decision-makers, the submission of opinions and studies, and the organisation of events and conferences aimed at promoting specific interests.
At a time when organisations should assess the impact of the new framework on their activities, review internal procedures and consider implementing appropriate compliance programmes, the webinar aims to clarify the main practical implications of the new legislation and address participants’ questions.
