Workshop | AI and Data Protection in the Banking Sector: Transparency, Lawfulness and Control

On 13 May, Helena Tapp Barroso, Maria da Assunção da Cunha Reis and Ana Pereira Coutinho were speakers at the workshop "AI and Data Protection in the Banking Sector: Transparency, Lawfulness and Control", addressing the main challenges and recent developments in personal data protection and artificial intelligence.

The session, organised by the firm's Intellectual Property, Technology and Data Protection team, provided a space for reflection and debate on topics of growing relevance to financial institutions, namely the processing of personal data in the context of credit granting, the use of automated decision-making and client profiling systems, the implications of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the adoption of new technologies, and the emerging requirements arising from the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) and its impact on banking sector activities.
